Donate Event Space

  • Host a PTA event

Help bring our school community together! The Washington Grove PTA is looking for a family with a spacious backyard who would be willing to host an occasional PTA gathering.

    Events could include:

    • Backyard barbecues and family cookouts.
    • Holiday parties and seasonal celebrations.
    • Kids’ gatherings and large group playdates.
    • Casual get-togethers for PTA families.

You provide the space, and we plan together! The PTA will coordinate with you on event details, setup, and cleanup. Hosting can be a one-time opportunity or occasional commitment, depending on your availability and comfort level.

Creative services at PTA events

  • Face painting & balloon animals

Bring extra smiles and creativity to our PTA events! We’re looking for volunteers who enjoy face painting or making balloon animals to help make school celebrations even more memorable.

    You can help by:

    • Painting fun designs, such as butterflies, superheroes, and school spirit themes.
    • Creating balloon animals and other playful shapes.
    • Helping set up and clean up your activity station.

Have either skill? We’d love your help! You don’t need to do both. Volunteer at events that fit your schedule, and let us know what supplies you may need.

    • Make basic edits to photos and video clips.
    • Upload finished files to the PTA Google Drive folder.
    • Help provide content for social media, website updates, email newsletters, and flyers.

No professional experience or fancy equipment is required—a smartphone and an eye for capturing great moments are welcome!

    • Flexible commitment: Help at events that fit your availability.
    • Student privacy: Follow school and PTA guidelines for photo permissions.

  • Dancers & Dance Teachers

Help get everyone moving at PTA events! We’re looking for dancers and dance teachers who can guide kids and families through fun, easy-to-follow group dances.

    You can help by:

    • Leading favorites like the Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, and other party dances.
    • Breaking down steps so children of different ages and abilities can join in.
    • Teaching simple dance routines or hosting a short dance activity.
    • Creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating.

Whether you teach professionally or simply love to dance, we’d love your help! Volunteer at events that fit your schedule and bring your enthusiasm—we’ll coordinate the details together.

Optional. We ask Google only whether you are free or busy during each upcoming event. We never see your event names or details. Afterwards you choose whether we keep checking.

Volunteer questions.

Do I need a background check?

Some MCPS volunteer roles that involve regular, unsupervised time with students require training or a background check. The PTA lead for each event will tell you if your role needs one.

Can I bring my younger kids?

It depends on the role. Ask the PTA lead for the event, or email washingtongroveespta@gmail.com.

Can teens volunteer?

Yes! High schoolers can help at the Book Fair and may earn service hours (training required).

What does the Google Calendar check do?

It asks Google only whether you are free or busy, never what your events are. By default we give up access when you send the form. If you tick “Keep checking”, PTA leaders can see when you might be free (7 AM–7 PM) for new events until you stop sharing, using the link in our emails or by replying. It is optional.
